On 21 June, the Belgian Parliament has approved the Telecom law, that transposes the ePrivacy Directive into Belgian law. Article 90 sets the new rules for the use of cookies by websites. As of now, publishers of websites must inform the website visitor on the cookies that will be set on the computer of the user. Furthermore, the consumer has also the opportunity to manage its consent. The website publisher can in this respect refer the consumer to the settings of the web browser.

IAB Belgium organises on 5 July the Big Cookie Event, a seminar on the Belgian and European situation of the impact of the legislation in Belgium and Europe and of the IAB self regulation for tracking cookies.
